Update about updates

Regulars visitors to Vista Themes Finder will have no doubt noticed the lack of recent activity.

Unfortunately we’ve been so snowed under we’ve not had time to be as thorough as usual in our quest for cool and interesting Vista Themes, but don’t worry, we’re back, and you can expect normal service to resume here at Vista Themes Finder very soon!

Smooth HAL 9000, a more perfectly timed Vista Theme we cannot imagine

A few days after the passing of science fiction legend Arthur C Clarke the Smooth HAL 9000 Vista theme was released by Vista Themes creator KoKaine.

The main focus of this Vista Theme is the “eye” of HAL 9000 looking back at the computer operator. As far as we know, it doesn’t talk or dulcet tones or make your Windows Vista PC go crazy.

In terms of design, this is one of the darker Vista themes to be released recently, and dark color palettes are often the hardest to co-ordinate and pull off with style, the Smooth Hal 9000 theme manages just that, so full credit to the theme creator for that work.

Download link for the Smooth HAL 9000 Vista Theme is after the thumbnail, as usual.

Clearlooks, an indication of future Vista Themes?

It seems that there is a small but growing trend in the World of Vista Themes, and that is to take inspiration for Vista Theme designs from the also small but growing in popularity Ubunto distribution of Linux.

Clearlooks for Vista Beta 1.1 is, as the name suggests, a clear, clean and crisp style for Windows Vista. This theme uses a lot of transparency and a generally sparse appearance, with nice, clear and bold icons. Uncluttered and user friendly, it will be interesting to see how this particular line of Vista Themes matures and progresses.

A fine example of “glass” style Vista themes

Aquos, by yoitzalvin is, in our opinion, is one of the better thought out and stylishly put together Vista Themes we have seen lately, and it is clear a lot of time and effort has been put into this work by its creator.

There are plenty of details, explanations and instructions on installing this Vista Theme on the download page which should answer any questions you have, but before you take the leap you should be aware of certain prerequisites, such as Windows Vista 32-Bit (Home Premium or Business or Ultimate), VistaGlazz (The shortcut to enabling themes for Vista and WinRAR or similar. Those familiar with customizing your Windows Vista install should have at least all of those things by now.

Aquos is in part an almagomation of other Vista Themes and visuals styles, wallpaper and such, and full credit is rewarded to those who have contributed on the download page, but already this theme is proving popular and shows sometimes the outcome of a project can be more than its component parts.

Possibly the last of the Revisited Longhorn Vista themes

Following on from our previous inclusions of earlier incarnations of the Revisited Longhorn Vista Themes, we were pleased to see that version 2.1 has now been released by ekodaniel over at deviantART, which continues to be a great source of Vista themes thanks to the pool of creative talent that site attracts.

Due to the configuration of this Vista visual style it is only compatible with Aero or Basic 32 bit and 64 bit English Only, however it is Vista SP1 ready.

This particular style has been a long time in the making, even if the final edition has appeared only a relatively short time after version 2.0, and has a strong following, download link after the thumbnail image if you want to find out for yourself just why that is.

Updated Shadewhite Vista theme by invaderjohn

The Shadewhite Windows Vista Theme was popular already, despite being a relative newcomer, and already a new version has been released, which is a promising sign for the future of this attractive and increasingly popular Vista theme.

This visual style is white and glossy, clean, well made, and professional in appearance.

The updated version shown here, like many updates to Vista Themes, is relatively minor, and includes a new menu bar, among other visual tweaks and additions.

Download link is after the thumbnail graphic below.

Radiation Shell, a Vista theme with a neon glow

This is a first attempt at a shell style for Windows Vista by Torched7, and we think they’re off to a promising start.

Apparently the 80s are back in fashion, with a twist, and maybe this particular style will be an indication of Vista themes to come in the future. But maybe not, just thinking out loud here.

We do think this Vista style has something going for it, the style us fairly unique, large icons and crisp, generally dark and high contrast color scheme work well and provide clarity. It’s a bit of a rough diamond maybe, but Torched7 could be one to watch out for for future Vista Themes.

As usual, the download link is after the thumbnail image below.

Of the more crisp, clean, stylish Vista Themes

We really like this theme. Not sure why, but there’s something that tickles us about the clean, crisp design and the overall look and feel that it creates. Fresh, modern, and just pretty cool to our eyes.

The theme is called Platinum, maybe a bit of a showy name we agree, but Vista Themes creator r3c1pr0c17y has created a very good, classy vista visual style for sure, and what is better, is that the theme is also well supported for bug fixes and updates. Excellent.

Your Windows Vista system will require patching, VistaGlazz, and a tiny bit of effort on your behalf, but the rewards surely are worth it.

Download link is after the pretty thumbnail image.

A theme to make Vista look like Ubunto

One of the more popular distributions of Linux is, of course, Ubunto. Like OSX, Ubunto is no where near as popular in sales terms as Windows Vista, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t have its fans. Those who like the ‘look’ of the Ubunto OS, but love their Windows Vista even more, here could be your answer.

We’ve seen Vista Themes in all colors and flavors, but VUbuntu has to be the first real attempt at making Vista look and feel like Ubunto.

The theme is still in the Beta stage, so as ever with beta software, install at your own risk. Full details available on the download page, credit to in-dolly for the hard work and impressive progress so far.

Vista OS X v2 Final theme for Windows Vista

There’s no doubt that the OSX look is a popular one with vista themes creators and those who like to use them alike. We have previously featured the Vista OSX Final Theme, and now, thanks to talented vista themes creator patrickgs there’s a new, version two of the popular OSX style vista theme.

To use this Vista Theme, you must ensure you have Windows Vista 32 bit without any Service Pack installed. (Service Pack 1 version and 64 Bit are apparently currently in development), full install instructions and trouble shooting advice are available on the download page.
